The Trunyan Village Boat Tour takes you on a fascinating cultural journey to one of Bali’s
most mysterious and ancient communities.

Your adventure begins with a boat ride across the beautiful Lake Batur, surrounded by the dramatic scenery of Mount Batur and the Kintamani highlands. On the eastern shore lies
Trunyan Village, a remote settlement known for preserving unique traditions that date back to pre-Hindu Bali Aga culture.

During the visit, you will explore the village temple, where a sacred Neolithic effigy is kept
hidden in an underground chamber and only revealed once a year during an important
religious ceremony.

Next, continue by boat to the Trunyan cemetery (Sema Wayah), one of the most unusual
burial sites in the world. Instead of burial or cremation, the deceased are placed on the
ground beneath the ancient Taru Menyan tree, whose natural fragrance prevents unpleasant odors. After the body naturally decomposes, the skull is respectfully placed on a stone altar.

This ancient ritual reflects the deep spiritual beliefs of the Trunyanese people, offering
visitors a rare glimpse into Bali’s oldest cultural heritage.

To end the journey, you can relax with a refreshing dip in the natural hot springs near Lake
Batur, before returning comfortably to your hotel.
